Paris Lainas
Paris
Lainas (born 1979 in Vienna) started to train Chinese martial arts at the age
of 17. Studying different styles for six years, he discovered Chen style
Taijiquan and concentrated his efforts solely on this art since 2003.
He is
the Austrian National Champion in the categories ‘Taiji forms’ (2004, 2005 and
2007) and ‘Taiji weapons forms’ (2007).
In
2006, he made 1st place in the category ‘traditional Chen Taijiquan
hand- and weapons-form’ of the ‘4th international Zhejiang
Championship 2006’ in Hangzhou, China.
In
2007, he brought home 4 gold medals from the ‘5th international
Zhejiang Championship 2007’ in the categories Chen Taijiquan hand-, sword-,
saber- and fan-form, and 1 gold medal for the group form.
In
2007, he was awarded the 5th Duan (teacher’s degree) after taking
the test before the commission (led by Chen Xiaowang) of the Chinese Wushu
Association.
In 2008 he gained the certificate for a "young master" from Master Chen
Shi Hong, the Austrian Wushu-Federation, the chinese sports comitee and
Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang.
He
remains an arduous student of Chen Shihong and teaches the beginners class in Master
Chen’s school. Paris Lainas obtained his official permission to teach, and
founded the Shū Jiàn association in 2005.
